How to Apply
The application form saves your progress, so don’t worry about completing it in one sitting!
Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credits in their O-level examinations, including English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, obtained from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB, within no more than two (2) sittings. A combination of WAEC and NECO results will be accepted; however, NABTEB results cannot be combined with either of the two examinations.
Candidates who choose Merit College of Nursing Science Umuowa, Orlu as their first-choice college in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are hereby invited to the screening exercise for admissions.
Admission is Merit Based.

Application Period
Application commences on June 1st, 2024, and closes on August 30, 2024.

UTME Requirements
UTME candidates must have scored a minimum of 150 in their UTME.
Note: Those who did not choose MCNS as their first choice College but scored a minimum of 150 can also apply on the condition that they visit the JAMB website for a change of Institution.

Application Review
All prospective students are required to complete the application form below and would be required to pay a processing fee of Twenty-five thousand naira (25,000).
Afterwards, Merit College of Nursing Sciences will review your application to confirm you meet our admission requirements. If so, you will then be asked to complete an interview as part of the review process.

Application Interview
Interviews are usually completed over the phone or in person with a member(s) of the Academic Team. The purpose of the interview is to get to know you better, hear about your future plans, understand why you are interested in the course, any particular papers you like and your understanding of the nursing program.

Payment of Application Fees
Eligible candidates would be required to pay a processing fee of Twenty-five thousand naira (25,000) online.
Merit College of Nursing Sciences will issue an invoice for the payment of your application fees. On payment of this invoice, you will be issued with a receipt of payment.
English Language Proficiency
Merit College of Nursing Sciences does not provide English as a Second Language instruction. Students are required to speak English when an instructional setting necessitates the use of English for educational or communication purposes. All courses in Merit College of Nursing Sciences are taught in English.
General Admissions Requirements
– Applicants must be 18 years or older. All applicants must present either a State issued Identification card /driver’s license or passport.
– Proof of High School Graduate/GED or achieved a degree higher than a High School Diploma.
– Pass the college of nursing standardized entrance exam
– Pass the MCNS screening and interview exam
– Secure and pay for the dormitory housing for the first-year students.
– Complete an enrollment agreement and pay the registration fee (Registration fee is non-refundable/nontransferable)
– Purchase text and required equipment.
– All applicants are interviewed as part of the admissions process.
– No felony, and certain misdemeanour (drug, violence, and theft), convictions are not allowed. A pre-employment background check and drug screening (serum) will be required. This is required by the clinical training facility.
